Questions regarding consumer law
I signed a contract with a door-to-door salesman. Can I still terminate this contract?
If you signed an agreement with a salesman outside a shop, you have more space to terminate this agreement. This is the case when someone comes to your door or approaches you on the street. When you sign an agreement with a salesman outside a shop, you can cancel the agreement within 14 days of signing.
It sometimes happens that the period of 14 days has already expired. In these cases, you are often bound to the contract. However, there are cases in which you can still terminate the contract. The salesperson is obligated to provide you with information about the agreement during the sale. For example, the salesperson has to provide you with the name of the company, the cost of the sale and the method of delivery. In addition, the salesperson has to inform you about your right to terminate the agreement within 14 days. If the salesperson does not provide you with this information, the cancellation period of 14 days only starts when the vending company provides you with the information still.
I bought a product online. Can i still return the product?
If you buy a product online, you can return it within 14 days. However, this rule does not apply to every kind of product. For example, products that expire, products that are produced on request or a service that is already delivered cannot be returned. Sometimes the return window is larger. This is the case when the product is faulty, malfunctioning or incomplete. In these cases, the return window is 6 months.
